Sacrament of Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be received on Sunday, October 16th at 2:00 pm at Holy Angels Cathedral in Gary. Confirmandi and their sponsors should be at the cathedral no later than 1:15pm.
Students are required to be present at all of their scheduled Confirmation classes and also the Day of Reflection on October 15th. from 9:30 - 1:00pm. We will have a short practice when we have our Day of Reflection. The sponsors do not need to be present at the practice.
Dress Code for Confirmation:
Boys:The young men should wear dress pants and a shirt and tie. A jacket or sweater is optional. Their socks should match their pants (no white athletic socks) and they should be wearing dress shoes.
Girls: Young ladies can wear a skirt or dress that is no more than 2 inches above the knee. Shoulders, back and midriff must be covered; nothing low-cut, strapless or with spaghetti straps is allowed. Dress pants may be worn if they so desire. They should also have dress shoes. Flip-flops or athletic shoes are not appropriate.
Please remember that the students will be in church receiving a sacrament and that modestly is of utmost importance.
Students and sponsors will sit together and have reserved seats in the cathedral. Everyone else will sit wherever seats are available so I would advise you to get there early. We will be receiving Confirmation along with 3 other parishes.
PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT ALLOWED DURING THE MASS. The Bishop will POSE FOR PICTURES AFTER Mass but ONLY ONE PICTURE WITH THE BISHOP PER FAMILY IS ALLOWED. Students will line up after the Mass if you wish to have a photo with the Bishop. Please have everyone ready for your picture before you get in line and keep the line moving.
